After several years of publishing a Statement on Internal Control (SIC), moving to a less prescriptive governance statement has been a new challenge for many government organisations. To understand these challenges we have reviewed a large sample of statements. We have also met with a number of those involved in risk, governance or assurance at a variety of government organisations to discuss lessons learned as well as holding a “Round Table” event which allowed participants to exchange views and opinions in an informal environment.
