The business

A support services group that provides training and assessment across a growing range of industry sectors. The company currently employs approximately 500 people, operating from 42 centres across the United Kingdom.

The business challenge

The board needed to build a trusted team of both internal and external advisers. They had an ambitious buy and build strategy that included plans to become listed on the Alternative Investment Market, followed by the execution of acquisitions of other education and training businesses.

RSM Tenon Approach

RSM Tenon has advised the company since October 2007. As well as business advisory, tax and VAT services the corporate finance team has acted as reporting accountant for its admission to AIM. This has included due diligence reviews on a number of acquisitions and we also act as auditor for the enlarged group.

The result

The company has been able to build its business through a carefully selected programme of acquisitions. It has been able to integrate them and implement operational excellence and adoption of best practice whilst also balancing the needs of its existing businesses. RSM Tenon has provided the management team with access to a sounding board for advice and delivered a timely and efficient audit.

“We are very pleased with the services that RSM Tenon has provided since our relationship began with them as a result of our flotation in October 2007. The team has always been accessible and prepared to go that little bit further. They always meet deadlines and deliver what is promised. Our advisers have been commercially astute and the advice has always been well researched and presented with solid judgement and opinion.”
