RSM Tenon | Case Studies | Investing in growth
The business
A print management company offering a seamless, integrated approach to managing print solutions. From creative design to printing, fulfilment and database management services.
The business challenge
The company is a highly profitable business and was interested in the best ways to re-invest profits to aid business expansion in a tax efficient manner. Their existing adviser did not have the technical depth and breadth of knowledge that the directors required to achieve their personal and business ambitions.
RSM Tenon's approach
RSM Tenon had been liaising closely with the company for a number of months prior to appointment to understand the business and the personal aspirations of the directors. When these were fully understood RSM Tenon introduced the appropriate team from tax and financial services to look after their personal finances whilst also working alongside the business advisory and tax teams to define ways to expand the business.
The director shareholders were also interested in tax effective remuneration planning and growth advisory services. RSM Tenon helped them identify and develop new product offerings and routes to market.
We also helped them raise new funding and provided structural advice to tie in and effectively incentivise key people and create a structure capable of maximising future exit values.
The result
RSM Tenon reviewed the business structure and encouraged expansion into new premises taking advantage of available tax breaks. The directors reviewed pension planning and a tax efficient remuneration structure and are now looking at employee incentives schemes to lock in their best employees who may, at some point aspire to being part of a management buy-out team.
Most accountants come wearing a compliance hat telling you all the things you can’t do and really have no idea about running a business. RSM Tenon came with a totally refreshing approach that was a breath of fresh air, full of ideas and solutions for growing and developing the business and our personal wealth such that eventually we’ll be able enjoy the fruits of the previous years of hard work.
