Promoting corporate responsibility across the group is an important part of the way we operate. At board level corporate responsibility is the responsibility of the executive directors.
Our corporate responsibility activities focus on 3 areas:
Environment; Community; and People.
ENVIRONMENT
As a professional and business services group our environmental impact is relatively benign but we must act in every way we can to further improve our position:
- Green champions: Each of our major offices seeks to have a ‘green champion’ responsible for encouraging environmentally friendly behaviour.
- Reducing carbon emissions: Our wish is to reduce our carbon footprint and so we seek to carefully manage our essential business travel by encouraging the use of car sharing and public transport. Employees are incentivised to participate in a cycle to work scheme.
- Waste – reduce, reuse, recycle: We recycle waste in a manner recommended by local authorities. In addition, we also recycle toner cartridges, mobile telephones, batteries and computer hardware through appropriate channels. Much of our paper waste is recycled and our aim is to reduce the use of paper
and move towards electronic scanning and storage solutions.
- Environmentally friendly materials: We aim to produce our printed literature using environmentally friendly paper.
COMMUNITY
RSM Tenon is committed to contributing to our local communities and wholeheartedly believes in supporting local voluntary initiatives and charities. Each office is able to determine local priorities and raises money through a variety of social, sporting and other events, often involving our teams directly with the work of the charity.
RSM Tenon facilitates the engagement in voluntary and charitable work. We have our own portal, RSM Tenon Giving, which allows our people to bid for funding every month. News about donations and events is circulated through our intranet to further encourage community action.
PEOPLE
Our people are at the heart of the business and we take their well-being very seriously. We recognise that as an employer we play a major part in their lives.
RSM Tenon believes in the continual development and advancement of our people. Our dedicated training and education programme, the RSM Tenon Academy, provides structured learning for trainees through to senior management levels; it includes technical, advisory skills and personal development programmes. We also offer the opportunity of secondments to other service lines, offices and overseas with the RSMi network.
We place importance on the contributions and views of our employees. Our policy is to communicate with and seek their feedback regarding all relevant information about our clients and our business. Using our intranet site RSM TenonLink, specific newsletters, briefings by management, regional forums and our annual employee engagement survey, we provide constant opportunity for input. Our in-house magazine, ‘JAM’, is produced regularly and includes items relating to both the business and individual interests.
In addition to equal opportunity, fairness and diversity policies we have also implemented a number of other initiatives that benefit our people including:
- Flexible benefits including:
- purchase of additional holiday each year;
- flexible working arrangements;
- opportunities to apply for sabbatical leave; and
- options to apply for home-working.
- All employee share schemes.
