As a UK wide firm with 2,500 employees and in excess of 50,000 clients, RSM Tenon is committed to developing its sustainability programme. Our approach is focused on the following areas:
- Our communities
- Our environment.
Our communities
RSM Tenon has offices throughout the UK and the needs of the communities in which we operate are varied and diverse. We seek to engage with the local community in each of our regional areas.
Examples of engagements during the financial year 2011/12 can be found on page 15 of our Annual Report.
Our environment
We aim to reduce our environmental impact. As a business advisory group our main impact on the environment arises from our offices’ energy use and air conditioning systems, business travel, the use of natural resources and production of waste. Of these, energy use and business travel contribute most to our carbon footprint.
Our strategy on property is to move into newer energy efficient leased premises as existing leases expire. We undertook a number of office moves in the year to consolidate offices in the same locality.
We appointed an energy broker during the financial year 2011/12 to enable us to monitor our energy use more accurately. As a result we have been able to record our carbon dioxide equivalent emissions and set 2011/12 as our baseline year for monitoring performance.
